This post captures the work of attaching the landing gear, tires, and brake system. It covers work that happened primarily across two timeframes: January 2024 and a week in June 2024. I installed an amazing Beringer tire and brake system that’s an upgrade from the stock kit Van’s provides. I also installed a system called SenseAir which is a band inside the tire rim that provides tire pressure via Bluetooth to their iPhone app. It’s awesome because once flying there will be wheel fairings around each tire that will make it difficult to check tire pressures during preflights.
The second session in June 2024 was necessitated by the need to install shims to fine-tune the axle alignment of the main landing gear. I also added and bleeded the brake fluid to ensure proper operation of the brake system.
I also got some good video of adding the brake fluid and bleeding the system of air bubbles.
